RATHER BOOK-ISH

The Book of Mormon. Yes, we did manage to go. Three weeks ago. Before the official opening (Thank you “Mr J”). I’ll spare you a review. Critics have done that already and more expertly that I ever could. Ticket sales are going through the roof. As far as 2014. Producers are making $£$£$£$. If you haven’t heard about the stratospheric hype The Mormons have generated, you are probably living under a rock. But is it all it’s cracked up to be?

So, where to start? With adjectives maybe:

  • crass
  • crude
  • jaw-achingly funny
  • scabrous
  • blasphemous
  • hilarious
  • profane
  • outrageous
  • brilliant
  • offensive
  • over-hyped
  • sacrilegious
  • absurd
  • delightful
  • cliched
  • entertaining
  • satirical
  • delirious
  • shocking
  • irritating

All of the above for me (and all mine, without thesaurus.com!!). But a tad too juvenile  and tiresome by the end (think American Pie meets The Hungover). What’s your take on it?

But the cherry on the cake was to re-discover the Prince of Wales Theatre and its glorious art deco features. Take a look at my next post!
